Another this is he is technically right that post Stalin era Soviet unions problems were not the same as Stalin and Gorbachev’s reforms especially if the us eased its restrictions could’ve led to a successful Scandinavian style government in the Soviet Union. For me the greatest failure of 80s us foreign policy is the failure to realize the potential of the reforms that Gorbachev created could’ve led to a potential alliance with the Soviet Union and a better economy and I think it would be interesting to see destiny study pre collapse soviets and gorbachevs reforms
